Анотація

Релігійні люди показують вищі результати в дослідженнях щастя і психологічного благополуччя. Тим не менше, зв'язок релігійності і психологічного благополуччя не є прямим: він залежить від ширшого контексту. Існують чинники, які опосередковують релігійний внесок в психологічне благополуччя. Вони можуть бути умовно розділені на соціальні та індивідуальні. Соціальними чинниками є релігійний або світський характер суспільства, загальне ставлення в суспільстві до релігії, конгруентність цінностей, що їх сповідує індивід та його спільнота в цілому, соціальна залученість та підтримка. Психологічні переваги релігійності є, крім інших факторів, сформованими соціальним контекстом, домінуючими в суспільстві цінностями і механізмами конформності.
